EcoCheck US was created to speed up desktop ecological assessments for US locations -consolidating USFWS, USGS, FEMA, and GBIF data into a single instant search.

Every desktop ecological assessment for a US project meant the same slow routine: switching between USFWS ECOS, the PAD-US viewer, FEMA’s Flood Map Service Center, the National Wetlands Inventory mapper, and GBIF -cross-referencing designations, checking species records, and manually compiling everything before writing could even begin.
EcoCheck US is what should exist: a single search that consolidates federal environmental designation and protected species data across the United States, returning what you need for a desktop assessment in seconds rather than hours.
EcoCheck US queries USFWS Critical Habitat, PAD-US protected areas (National Parks, Wilderness, National Wildlife Refuges), GBIF species occurrence records for federally listed and priority species, FEMA flood zones, and the National Wetlands Inventory -all from a single location search.
State-level natural heritage program data is flagged where relevant, with direct links to consult state agencies. Pro subscribers get auto-generated Desktop Reports and Toolbox Talks with US-specific ESA, MBTA, NEPA, and Clean Water Act survey recommendations.
EcoCheck US is a focused desktop assessment tool. Enter a zip code or coordinates and search radius, and it returns federal designations, protected areas, species records, wetland data, and flood zones from across the United States. It’s not a replacement for a full GIS workflow -it’s designed to speed up the initial desktop assessment so you can spend your time on the ecology, not the data gathering.
The tool is live and actively developed. Feedback from working ecologists, biologists, and environmental consultants is welcome -especially on data gaps or features that would make it more useful for day-to-day US project work.
